A  formal request to the Town of Aberdeen which obligates the piece of property, next to the Styer’s property and the American Legion building that the Town owns, to be held for use by the new library construction.

The "pitch" was that the property be held for use in conjunction with construction of the library. It was requested that the property be “obligated” for up to five (5) years to give the necessary time to raise the funds for building the library.  If we are unable at the end of five years to bring it to fruition, then the property reverts back to the town to be used as they see fit.

The Town of Aberdeen board voted unanimously to endorse this idea and will draft a letter to that effect in the coming days!

This is a major step forward on several fronts:

  •  The Town of Aberdeen has jumped in with both feet and is showing their commitment to bringing a new library to Aberdeen

  • This will help us in our fund raising efforts – again demonstrating that there is support from the Town.

  • It helps to demonstrate that this is a real effort – not just a paper dream.
